Athenahealth Job Cuts Hit Atlanta Office Just days after the healthcare IT company athenahealth, Inc (NASDAQ:ATHN) shared plans to slash its workforce, the first string of layoffs has hit its employees in Georgia. Athenahealth is closing its client support center in Atlanta, GA, leading to dozens of athenahealth job cuts in the city.

It’s been a strange year for the restaurant business. As many as a quarter of new jobs were created in the restaurant sector as recently as June. In some cities, the share of job creation rises to about a third of all jobs generated. And yet, hundreds of restaurants closed in 2017 so far.
Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. (NYSE:WBA) said it will shutter around 600 stores as part of its plan to buy nearly 2,000 Rite Aid locations. The Deerfield, Illinois-based company is in the process of acquiring 1,932 Rite Aid stores; the $4.4-billion transaction is expected to be completed by the spring of 2018. CVS Pharmacy Layoffs 2017 CVS Pharmacy Inc. filed two WARN notices earlier this month, in relation to the permanent layoffs of 78 employees. The company filed a WARN notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, indicating that 51 people at its office in East Northport, New York will face layoffs on December 15. (more…)
Hospitals to Close in L.A. The Pacific Alliance Medical Center (PAMC) will be shuttering when its lease expires, leaving 638 employees without jobs. The hospital is being closed due to California’s seismic standards, which would require massive reinvestment into the facility.
