Molded Fiber Glass Companies announced it is shuttering its wind turbine blade manufacturing plant in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The move will result in 409 layoffs. Mettler-Toledo Layoffs in New York State Lab equipment company Mettler-Toledo International Inc. (NYSE:MTD) is closing its plant in Dryden, New York and is relocating the jobs to Florida. This will result in 69 employees receiving layoff notices. All of the workers to be cut in the Mettler-Toledo layoffs are non-union employees.
Yanfeng Automotive Interiors recently filed two Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) reports to the Michigan Workforce Development Agency, indicating it will be laying off 355 employees starting in January.
It’s not definitive, but it doesn’t look good for employees at Prysm, Inc.’s facility in Carmel, Indiana. The California-based technology company filed a precautionary Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) report with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development noting it might close its facility in Carmel. Doing so would impact 61 workers.
Georgia-Pacific LLC announced that it is shutting down large parts of its Camas paper mill, a move that will idle as many as 300 employees, or more than two-thirds of its local employees. The closures are expected to start in the second quarter of 2018.
Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE:PII) is executing its global realignment strategy, one that will affect 110 positions, including some in Medina and Plymouth, Minnesota. Even presidents can find it difficult to keep their promises. The much-ballyhooed promise of saving manufacturing jobs at Carrier Corporation’s Indianapolis plant is going ahead with its final round of layoffs. Carrier announced plans to lay off 215 employees from its Indianapolis factory. Their last day of work is on January 11, 2018.
